Walker Brothers is a fast-growing, Nashville-based beverage brand that brews both non-alc and hard kombucha. The company was begun by Sam and Luke Walker, two brothers with a desire to create beverages that are as tasty as they are functional. Using a family SCOBY, the two began to brew kombucha in their garage, eventually perfecting the light, refreshing, and probiotic-filled kombucha you enjoy today. Role Description
This is a full-time role for an Area Sales Manager, based in Nashville, TN. There is flexibility for remote work as travel within the state and select other markets will be required.
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and managing distributor relationships, opening new accounts, managing existing accounts, and building brand awareness -- all with the goal of driving sales. This is a key position within our tight-knit sales team and reports directly to one of our co-founders. There is ample opportunity for both personal development and professional advancement.
Beyond driving sales, a successful Area Sales Manager will excel at creating “fans” of the Walker Brothers brand at a distributor, retailer, and consumer level.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on monthly volume and distribution goals and achieve overall objectives in assigned territories
- Engage with distributors to ensure focus and delivery of sales plans
- Build relationships with and sell alongside distributor sales representatives; target of 4 full-day work-withs per month
- Educate distribution partners on the category, quality control, selling points, best practices
Spend approximately 4 days per week in the field in home market (Nashville, TN) and at least one full work week (5 days, can be split) in the field outside of home market per month in order to:
- Open new points of distribution (both on and off premise)
- Win new SKUs / placements / expand facings at existing accounts
- Maintain/grow brand awareness at existing accounts
- Review in-store opportunities
- Educate retailers on and implement Walker Brothers retail execution standards
- Conduct regular pricing audits of peer brands
Collaborate with the Director of Sales to identify, build, and execute programming with distributor and retailer teams, as well as other in-territory entities to accelerate growth including:
- In-store samplings
- Distributor sales team incentives
- Retailer promotions
- Collaborative events with other breweries or like-minded businesses that serve target market (i.e. bring product to a run club or partner with a fitness studio)
Use internal software (iDIG and Karma) to:
- Log relevant work activities
- Track distributor sell-through of products to proactively identify action opportunities for upselling/cross-selling at a retailer level and proactively spot retailer accounts in decline and remedy
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales to determine distributor purchase order (P.O.) quantities each month
Manage each day to maximize the most potential for Walker Brothers market growth
Request resources when necessary and bring in Director of Sales or other member of Management team when challenges arise
Work collaboratively with other Walker Brothers employees across functions to deliver company objectives
Communicate effectively internally and externally regarding business performance and needs
Qualifications
- Proven track record of sales success (preferably at another beverage brand) and meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Intense drive for results
- Exceptional persuasive communication skills and strong customer service instinct
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently without oversight
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks
- Knowledge of G-Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, basic Excel)
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly within TN and (to a lesser extent) other markets
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license (company provides CPM reimbursement)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
